Beginner Pet, Low Maintenance

Hello! I am interested in an exotic pet that is low maintenance, and nothing ridiculous when it comes to pricing. If it is a cat it must be hypoallergenic. I do love Chinchillas and Sugar Gliders and such. It cannot be anything large or fully outdoors. Please no high-energy pets, and it has to be legal in Maryland. Seniors or disabled or animals that “don’t fit conformation” are all fine. I am prepared to do the research for the pet. If they are small, multiple pets are fine. Animal must be good with kids, though this one is mature and has experience with cats.
